The National Alliance for the Regenerative Vegetable Oil Sector (NARVOS) was formally launched at the National Multi-Stakeholder Conference held in Bhopal on 23 August 2025, marking a significant milestone in India’s journey towards sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture. The conference served as the founding platform for NARVOS, bringing together a diverse spectrum of stakeholders committed to advancing regenerative agriculture within the vegetable oil sector.
The launch of NARVOS received strong support from leading industry bodies, notably the Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA) and the Soybean Extractors’ Association of India (SOPA), underscoring the growing recognition within the industry of the need to transition towards sustainable and regenerative production systems. Their endorsement highlighted the sector’s readiness to engage constructively in reshaping supply chains that are both environmentally responsible and economically viable.
The conference witnessed active participation from prominent civil society organisations, research institutions, and industry leaders, reflecting the multi-stakeholder spirit of the alliance. Key participants included representatives from AWL, Bunge, Department of Agriculture, Government of Madhya Pradesh, Bio-Nutrient companies, and the Indian Institute of Soil Science, alongside leading voices from the edible oil industry. Distinguished industry leaders such as Shri Atul Chaturvedi and Shri Vijaya Data contributed valuable perspectives on the role of industry leadership in scaling regenerative agriculture across India.
The discussions at the conference focused on regenerative agriculture pathways, on-ground implementation models, and the critical role of industry in enabling adoption at scale. Deliberations emphasised that industry engagement—through sustainable sourcing, investment in farmer capacity building, and alignment with policy frameworks—is essential for mainstreaming regenerative practices. The strong presence and support of civil society organisations further reinforced the importance of inclusive, farmer-centric approaches in driving this transition.
The launch event not only marked the formal inception of NARVOS but also laid the foundation for a collaborative, action-oriented alliance—one that seeks to bridge farmers, industry, research, and policy to promote a resilient, inclusive, and regenerative future for India’s vegetable oil sector.
